A Traditional Stovetop Made From Two Bars of Steel
These flat irons turn a campfire into a stable cooking surface the old-fashioned way — lay a log or split of firewood on each side of the fire, set the irons across them, and you've got a stovetop for pots and pans. A bolt and wingnut let the irons pivot into a "V" for smaller cookware, or come apart entirely for a wider parallel setup.
At 28 inches long and 3 pounds, they're simple, sturdy, and built to outlast just about anything else in a camp kitchen kit.
Best for
- Stationary camp cooking over an open fire
- A stable surface for multiple pots at once
- Traditional bushcraft camp setups
- Anyone who wants a cooking rig with no moving parts to fail
