Some flies imitate one insect. The Chubby Chernobyl doesn't bother — it's a dual-layered foam body, a poly-yarn wing, and a flashy underbelly that reads as a hopper, a stonefly, a beetle, or just something big and worth eating, depending on what the fish wants that day. That ambiguity is the whole point, and it floats like nothing else in the box.
The hopper dropper setup is, essentially, a two-fly system. The 'hopper' is a buoyant, dry fly that mimics terrestrial insects like grasshoppers, while the 'dropper' is a weighted nymph or subsurface fly tied on a length of tippet off the bend of the dry fly.
