The Black WD-40 is a tiny, deadly mayfly and midge emerger: a slim black thread body, wood-duck tail and wing case, and a sparse dubbed thorax. Few flies fool selective tailwater trout as reliably during Baetis and midge activity.

The WD-40 rides in or just under the film, imitating the vulnerable moment of emergence; the black version matches the darkest small mayflies and midges.
