The WD-40 Dun runs the emerger in a soft dun-gray—the universal mayfly color. Gray body, wood-duck tail and wing case, sparse thorax: the shade that matches more emerging mayflies than any other, on the most reliable emerger pattern there is.

Dun-gray is what most mayflies look like to a trout in the surface film, which is exactly where the WD-40 rides.
