The Platte River Special is the classic hackle-wing pattern of its namesake Wyoming river, tied here in golden-yellow: long matched hackle wings over a gold body. It swims with the seductive side-to-side wobble that made the style famous among brown trout anglers.

Fish it on the swing and strip like a streamer—through tailouts, along undercut banks, and across the deep seams where big browns hold. The yellow-gold version shines in stained water and autumn light.
