The Green Butt Skunk takes the Northwest's most trusted steelhead fly and adds the detail that made it a legend in its own right: a glowing chartreuse butt at the rear of the black body. Red tail, black hackle, white wing—all the Skunk's contrast, plus a green hot spot that fish single out in green-tinted coastal water.

That chartreuse band earns its keep when rivers run with a touch of color, or when fish have seen the standard Skunk one too many times. It's arguably the most popular variation in the entire Skunk family, and on many rivers it has quietly replaced the original as the default first swing.
