The Ginger Quill is a Catskill-era classic in warm cream tones: a stripped quill body, ginger hackle, and a pale upright wing. The bare quill abdomen shows the segmentation real mayflies wear, in the light ginger shades of Cahills, Sulphurs, and pale summer duns.
It covers the warm end of the mayfly spectrum the way the Blue Dun covers the cool—two flies, a century old, that still bracket most of what hatches.
