The Box Canyon is a heavily weighted stonefly nymph named for the famous water on the Henry's Fork: a brown-black dubbed body, dark wing case, and biot tails on a long hook. A big, dark, fish-it-deep nymph built to imitate the salmonfly and golden stone nymphs of big Western rivers.
Stonefly nymphs live on the bottom for years, so a heavy Box Canyon bounced through deep runs is a year-round big-fish producer.
Best for:
- Western salmonfly and stone rivers
- Deep runs and heavy pocket water
- Bottom-bouncing anchor duty
📌 Pro Tip: Add weight and get it ticking the rocks—the Box Canyon was designed to imitate a nymph that never leaves the bottom, so dredge it through the deep seams.
