The Foundation of Performance

The Yellowstone II Fly Rod is the core of the Jackson Hole Fly Company lineup — our flagship rod, and an exceptionally balanced, fast-action build for anglers who demand precision, versatility, and lasting durability across every kind of freshwater.

Constructed from high-performance IM8 graphite, the Yellowstone II recovers fast and crisp — which in real terms means tighter loops, more accurate casts, and the power to punch a fly through wind when conditions turn. Whether you're drifting dry flies on a spring creek, indicator nymphing a tailwater, or stripping streamers on big water, it adapts without fighting you.

Available in weights 3WT through 7WT and lengths from 7'0" to 9'0", it lets you dial in exactly the setup your water calls for — and the "Choose your setup" guide below tells you which.

Premium components elevate both performance and feel. Titanium line guides cut friction for smoother line shoot and easier distance. Portuguese cork grips stay comfortable and sure through long days on the water. The signature burled maple reel seat pairs classic looks with a secure, corrosion-resistant lockup.

Each rod ships with a protective sock and durable travel tube, and is backed by our Lifetime Warranty — built to fish hard, travel often, and perform season after season.

Best for
  • All-around trout fishing across rivers, creeks, and stillwater
  • Anglers who want one versatile rod instead of several specialists
  • Dry flies, nymphing, and streamers — matched to the right weight
  • Travel, thanks to the 4-piece design and included tube
  • Buyers who want premium components and a lifetime warranty in a rod they'll keep

Choose Your Setup

Not sure which to buy? Match the water you fish most:

  • 7'0" 3WT – Small, brushy creeks and tight cover. Delicate presentations, panfish and small trout, short accurate casts where a 9' rod won't fit.
  • 7'0" 4WT – Creeks and small rivers with a little more backbone. Light dry-fly and nymph work where you still want a short, maneuverable rod.
  • 9'0" 4WT – Technical trout water and delicate dry-fly fishing with the reach of a full-length rod. Great mend control on spring creeks and tailwaters. (Low stock – limited units remaining.)
  • 9'0" 5WTThe all-around answer. If you fish one rod for trout across rivers, lakes, and most dry/nymph/light-streamer situations, this is it. Best starting point for most anglers.
  • 9'0" 6WT – Bigger water, bigger flies, and wind. Hopper-dropper rigs, larger trout, light streamers, and breezy days where a 5WT gets pushed around.
  • 9'0" 7WT with Fighting Butt – Streamers, bass, carp, and windy big-water days. The fighting butt adds leverage for fighting heavier fish.

📌 Pro Tip: If you only buy one, go 9'0" 5WT. It's the most versatile trout setup made and handles 80% of freshwater situations most anglers will ever fish.
